OpenBuildings™ Station Designer Help

To place timber studs at a spacing

  1. Select ( Place Timber Studs at a Spacing ). Opens the Place Timber Studs at a Spacing dialog, and the Placement Options appear on the ribbon Placement tab.
  2. In the Placement settings, be sure to select appropriate Place By method. The placement options determine the number of studs to place.
  3. Select the first supporting element in the view at which the studs will begin.
  4. Select the second supporting element at which the studs will end.
The Place By options determine the spacings:
    • Two Points –
    • Length at End1 –
    • Length at End2 –
    • Length at Midpoint –
    • Path –
If you are placing by Number, that number of studs will appear between the two members, evenly spaced. If you are placing by Maximum Spacing, the greatest number of studs that could be placed with no more than that space between them will appear, evenly spaced. If you are placing by Absolute Spacing, the greatest number of studs that could be placed with that exact space between them will appear. It will be possible that the distance between the last member and the end will be different from the distance between the first member and its end.
Note: For a graphical depiction of these three placement options, see the help section on the Place Steel Members Framing Between tool.
